That occurs while Israel keeps moving into the region’s southern region, which is still home to Hamas’ surviving members. It also coincides with allegations (backed up by video evidence) that these so-called “police forces” are shooting and killing people in order to make it easier for the terrorists holed up there to grab supplies.
“Three U.S. and Israeli sources told Axios that the Biden administration warned that a “complete collapse of law and order” is considerably increasing the humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave and begged Israel to avoid targeting members of the Hamas-run civilian police force who accompany relief vehicles in Gaza.”
Why it matters: According to U.S. officials, there is growing worry “that Gaza is turning into Mogadishu” because armed gangs have been able to attack and plunder aid vehicles due to a lack of security and desperation, further straining the already fragile humanitarian infrastructure in the Strip.
A video showing a Hamas police officer shooting and killing a small child for attempting to steal food from one of the relief vehicles surfaced in late December. Since then, a number of accounts of citizens being shot while the trucks are being carried through famished crowds have surfaced. The events have received little to no international censure, and it seems that Joe Biden is okay with it.
This is similar to the wartime orders given to the Allied Powers during World War II not to execute Gestapo members in order to “keep order.” Gaza does not actually have a “citizen police force.” They’re all in favor of Hamas. They all facilitate the theft of aid that only serves to prolong the conflict, and they all perpetrate and/or permit crimes against innocent people.
Biden, of course, is all for doing whatever it takes to put an end to Israel and maintain the status quo. Given the duration of his failure-proneness, we are dealing with the worst foreign policy strategist in American political history. In the event that Biden has to make a poor choice, he will do so.
To be honest, I’m getting a little sick of hearing about the “humanitarian catastrophe” in Gaza without any background information, as if Hamas’s rule is the solution. If the terrorist government decides to go into exile and allows some sort of alliance to demilitarize the area, then all of this might stop tomorrow. That is the current approach of aiding the people of Rafah. Preserving the “police force” that is contributing to their worsening circumstances is one way to do them no good.
Israel wisely instructed Biden to pound sand.
“However, two Israeli sources stated that Israel rejected the proposal since one of its objectives in the conflict is to make sure that Hamas no longer controls Gaza.”
