Over 255,000 border crossers and illegal aliens who were let into the country illegally over the past year received cellphones from President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which aims to track their whereabouts.
The DHS-released data shows how far the Biden administration expanded the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program’s scope in order to more swiftly and readily release tens of thousands of undocumented people and illegal immigrants into American neighborhoods.
With merely Notices to Appear (NTA) in federal immigration court at a later time, hundreds of thousands of border crossers and illegal immigrants are let go into the interior of the United States. Long-standing federal data indicate that only a small percentage of border crossers and undocumented immigrants ultimately succeed in obtaining asylum.
According to the most recent ATD data, Biden’s DHS provided cellphones to track more than 255,000 undocumented migrants and illegal aliens between October 1, 2021, and September 30, 2022. The purpose of the phones is to be utilized so that the agency can monitor their whereabouts. Internet or other call-making capabilities are not available on the phones.
Every day, the cost to American taxpayers exceeds $360,000.
Just 26,000 illegal immigrants and border crossers received cellphones for tracking in Fiscal Year 2021, thus the Biden admin has raised program usage by nearly 880 percent.
More than 3.3 million undocumented migrants and illegal aliens have been freed from custody and are listed in DHS’s “non-detained docket” this amount is almost seven times the population of Miami, Florida. According to the data, the government only tracks just under 10% of undocumented people and illegal aliens who have been released into the interior of the United States.
Over eight states’ population, 1.35 million border crossers, and illegal immigrants have been unleashed into American communities since Biden entered office in late Jan. 2021 under his DHS.
Since Biden took office, around 2.2 million undocumented migrants and illegal aliens have entered the country, including those who managed to do so without being noticed by Border Patrol officers.
The Biden admin publicly justified their intention to start issuing government identification cards to undocumented people and illegal aliens that they intend to release into American neighborhoods, a few months ago. The plan aims to make obtaining public benefits simpler.
