Biden Creates A New Path For Mass Immigration

The Biden administration’s US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has reopened lawful immigration to foreigners with a history of receiving government benefits.

According to John Binder of Breitbart News, this action was in stark contrast to what former President Donald Trump’s administration did to address the issue of foreigners exploiting public funds.

Trump implemented the “public charge” rule, which made it harder for foreigners to get green cards to permanently remain in the U. S. if they had formerly used welfare benefits such as food stamps, Medicaid, or taxpayer-funded housing assistance.

Right after taking office, Biden repealed Trump’s established public charge rule, effectively opening the door to welfare-dependent lawful immigration to the United States. There is no free lunch in this situation, as American taxpayers are forced to pay for these migrants’ benefits.

USCIS began implementing Biden’s public charge rule before the end of December, which specifies that foreign people with a history of welfare dependency will not be banned from acquiring green cards to permanently reside in the U. S.

“The Department of Homeland Security will not consider receiving non-cash assistance (such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, public housing, school meal programs, and so on) other than long-term institutionalization at government expense,” USICS noted.

Binder noted that when Trump first released the Public Charge regulation in 2019, the majority of Americans favored limiting welfare assistance for migrants. Approximately 6 in 10 Americans support reducing payments for welfare-dependent legal immigrants, including 56% of Hispanics and 71% of blacks.

According to a 2017 National Academies of Science research, state and local taxpayers are invoiced approximately $1,600 per immigrant to pay for welfare payments yearly. Immigrant households received 33% higher cash welfare benefits than American citizen families, according to the report.

Similarly, the Center for Immigration Studies found that over 63% of non-citizen households get at least one sort of public welfare aid, whereas approximately 35% of American households receive welfare benefits. In other words, non-citizen households rely on welfare two times as much as American citizen households.

By extending welfare benefits to legal immigrants, there is an obvious clientelistic play at work. Non-white immigrants vote heavily for the Democratic Party, according to voting statistics. Democrats are not only getting votes from migrants by unlocking the welfare magnet, but they are also driving additional migration as more migrants understand that the US affords bountiful social benefits that often outweigh the economic gains they can extract in their country of origin.
