Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) alleges that after they reach the southern border, President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is releasing Chinese nationals who may or may not have links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for entry into the country.
The Biden administration’s extensive Catch and Release network, in which immigrants cross the border, are briefly detained, and are then immediately released into the interior of the United States while they wait, sometimes for years, to appear before a federal immigration judge, was described in detail by Cornyn during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday.
The parole system, which is a part of Biden’s Catch and Release network, was recently suspended, at least briefly, by a federal judge. Since Biden took office, parole has enabled tens of thousands of border crossers and illegal immigrants into the interior of the United States.
The projected 1.7 million border crossers and illegal aliens who were released into American communities by Biden’s DHS between February 2021 and January 2023 were more than Phoenix, Arizona, had residents. Chinese citizens who the federal government is largely unknown to are among them, according to Cornyn.
Cornyn informed DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, “Recently while I was in El Paso… the Border Patrol apprehended two young males holding passports from… China’s mainland, which is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.
They were probably released into the interior of the U.S. with a Notice to Appear or just a Notice to Report, like these other people.”
“You know nothing about them and nothing about what threat they present to the United States as well as our national security. You can’t tell us, can you, where the individuals are located who have claimed a credible fear of persecution and showed up with a passport, and under your and the Biden administration’s policy, they have been released into the interior of the country.”
Cornyn questioned Mayorkas about the agency’s knowledge of the locations and full histories of those who were released into the interior of the United States, but he omitted to ask the senior official about the most recent estimate of the size of the Catch and Release population.
Both publishing the number to the public and reporting it to Congress are not requirements for DHS employees.
The Biden government has welcomed nearly three million border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States, based on the most current totals. Included in this are the 1.2 million who are known to have safely crossed the border without being caught and the 1.7 million who were immediately released into American communities.
