As part of her probe against former President Trump, Fulton County DA Fani Willis intends to call several witnesses to appear in front of a grand jury sometime next week, CNN reported.
Willis has spent nearly three years looking into Trump’s alleged attempts to get the Georgia 2020 election results annulled. Former Georgia state Senator Jen Jordan (D), former Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan (R), and independent journalist George Chidi have all been asked by Willis to appear before a grand jury during the next week.
According to Duncan, who received notice to testify before the Fulton County grand jury this week, “I actually have just gotten a notification to do so, and I definitely will be there to do my role in recounting the facts, I won’t object to any of the questions that are posed to me, and I have no expectations regarding them.”
“DA Fani Willis’ office just called me, To testify in front of the grand jury this week, I have been called to appear in court,” Chidi said online.
The grand jury’s anticipated witness testimony indicates that Willis is prepared to press charges in her inquiry into Trump and his aides.
According to reports, “Willis is considering filing racketeering charges against Trump under the state’s RICO Act, which she also used to file charges against Atlanta rapper Young Thug.”
Trump has criticized Willis in recent days as it seems that he may soon be indicted.
“They claim that Atlanta is home to a young, prejudiced lady. She is prejudiced.” At a campaign appearance in New Hampshire this week, Trump stated, “And they say, I guess they claim that she was hunting a specific gang and then she wound up having an affair with the leader of the group or a gang member. And here is the individual who wants to charge me. She has a lot of issues.”
Trump claimed this week on Truth Social that Willis is looking into him because of a “PERFECT PHONE CALL.”
Trump penned:
“I have heard that RACIST Fulton County (Atlanta) DA ‘Phoney’ Fani Willis, who feebly reigns over one of the most deadly communities in the country, where thousands of murderers, vicious criminals, and gang members wander around the streets while going untried, completely free, & are being treated with ‘kid gloves,’ is using a possible indictment of me, as well as other innocent individuals, as a campaign and fundraisers CON JOB, all based on a PERFECT PHONE CALL, AS THE PRESIDENT, CHALLENGING ELECTION FRAUD – WHICH IS MY DUTY & RIGHT!”
In Atlanta, the Trump team has released a TV commercial condemning Willis and pointing out her prior transgressions.
Trump would be facing his fourth indictment in the previous five months if Willis decides to file charges against him. Due to his alleged attempts to invalidate the results of the 2020 election and his management of White House papers, Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed two federal charges against Trump. Additionally, Trump was charged with fabricating over 30 company records by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
